Are you looking for a more efficient way to bring eggs in from the henhouse & produce from the garden? Carrying an infant while trying to collect eggs or produce is difficult enough without trying to lug around a box or basket as well. I finally decided that a handmade gathering apron would be the best option for me.
How to Make a Gathering Apron from a Pillowcase
A gathering apron can be made with scrap fabric, a towel, or a pillowcase. You can have a completed 4-pocket gathering apron in 10-15 minutes and it costs about $8 or less! Using an apron to gather eggs & produce allows you to have your hands free to feed, water, clean the coop, carry a baby, or anything else you need to do while gathering. I have also found that I can carry many more eggs & much more produce in this apron than I could carry in my egg & harvest baskets!
All you need is fabric, a towel, or a pillowcase, thread, a needle, and some ribbon. It really couldn’t be any simpler!
Follow my video tutorial and check out the step by step walk through linked below. All you need is a standard size pillowcase, a wide piece of ribbon, and a sewing machine! Check it out the written tutorial over at Summers Acres!
